TORRENCE AFTER THIRD STRAIGHT 4WIDE WIN
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – World Champion Steve Torrence has the same kind of relationship with four-wide drag racing that Matthew Quigley, protagonist of the 1990 Australian-American western “Quigley Down Under,” had with handguns.
Although Quigley admittedly preferred a rifle, he proved in the movie’s climatic finish to be equally adept with either a long gun or a pistol. By the same token, Torrence may prefer traditional two-wide drag racing but when the sport goes four-wide, as it does this weekend at zMAX Dragway, he has demonstrated that he has all the tools needed to succeed.
